While researching the best way to get the word out that I was open, I found all types of advice and solutions. First of all, I needed a great website. After meeting with Sprout Creatives in Berlin, I realized they understood my business and the style I wanted to represent to my customers on the Internet. Secondly, I needed great advertising. I tried newspapers, magazines, and even Facebook; however, the newspapers and magazines did not help my business. Facebook has been a great source for me to get the word out and get it out fast. The problem with Facebook, it's only shown to those who have friended my page. I could pay to boost an ad, but it never really brought people into the store. I had to come up with a different marketing avenue, but what?
One day while sitting in my office watching TV and returning emails, Delmarva Life came on TV. I watched the hour long show and started thinking that may be a great way for me to gain exposure and target all age groups all over Delmarva. I met with a sales rep from WBOC and decided that I was going to give it a shot! That being said, the segment aired and the phone has been ringing off the hook! Business is booming and people finally know that Ocean City DOES have a Bridal & Formal Wear store! It went so well, that I will tape another segment in November promoting Holiday fashions and new winter Bridal trends. Along with the television segment, I have been running a commercial on WBOC radio station 102.5 and that is helping; as well. Starting a business is never easy.
